Hey Kathy

Guess what? Just been to the LFS as we were gonna get some cory's, but, we couldn't resist him, just had to get him, we came home with.... a Royal Plec! :hyper:

He was just so cute, only a baby about 3". We nearly got a Queen Arabesque but kept going back to the Royals as they are stunning. Just acclimatising him now!

When we get a camera next week I'll post a pic of him and Louie.

Just couldn't resist the little guy!

Wow, brilliant! :)

Don't want to p*ss on your parade though, but you're going to need that bigger tank any day now. What filtration do you have?

Going to get another filter next week to cope with it until we can get the bigger tank. Our LFS is pretty good and they advised that 2 plecs are messy so we need the second filter. Gonna keep a close eye on the water and will do changes as necessary till then. Didn't have the cash on us at the time.

He just looked so cute we had to get him! I only feed bloodworms once a week and they get gobbled up pretty quick so he won't get too much protein either.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the algae wafers we feed. We use Tetra Pleco wafers which are 35% protein. Should I try and find some that are lower? Just going to feed veggies to both until I'm sure of that cos these guys shouldn't have too much protein right?

*putting a deposit down on the new tank next week also so it won't be too long until we get it*

Piccies please :) And one of the phantom too!

Hi Lisa

Our camera is bust but we are gonna buy a new one next Monday so as soon as I have them and can work out how to post them, i will.

Already tried with hubby's phone but quality not good and just couldn't get the damn things to post!

:X

Cool, bet you can't wait!

Word of warning filtration wise. We knew this Royal was going to be messy, but imagine the messiest you can think of and times it by ten. No problem for us as we have 3 high flow internals and an external going on in the next day or two. But we're still gravel vaccing daily/every other day. Two internals in a 29g tank aren't going to be enough, he'll be sitting in his own poo-soup before long, so be prepared for very regular water changes (every other day prolly at least until filtration is upped big time).

He doesn't need algae wafers really - his diet is bogwood and vegetables. They're herbivorous, so the fish content in the algae wafers is unecessary protein which is dangerous in the long run. One every now and then won't kill but you don't want him having them regularly.

I found some vegetarian pellets on eBay which he seems to like. :good:

Hi Kathy, good advice :good: again

But don't worry cos we are watching & cleaning , and upgrading asap! :) You know we are new to plecs so your advice is much appreciated! :D

The biggest problem we have at the moment is Louie has taken a big dislike to the Royal! :/
