Hi inchworm

i noticed you had pic of skunk cories, over on the catfish page :)

Just wondering if you have bred them? and could give me any advice please.

and if anyone else has any input that would be fab :good:

Thanks

Hi Harlequins :)

I have nine of them in a 20 gallon tank. They are mature and the females are wide. Most of the time it's a single species tank but I have never seen as much as one egg from them. I understand that they are a very difficult species to breed.

Ok thanks Inchworm :)

Thats a shame yours haven't bred, yes i read that they were difficult to breed,i have 6 and i think i have 4 females and 2 males, going by the size of them but i may be wrong.so not the right ratio
They have starting flirting with each other, but nothing has happen has yet.

Because they're in the community tank,i don't want to cool the tank down too much, has i've read 22 degrees is when they normally spawn?

Hey there, thought I'd chime in.

I only had success breeding my corys in the past (difficult species I mean) by adding Indian Almond leaves.
They help replicate the corys natural environment whilst releasing tannins to help prevent any fungus from getting to the eggs.

Drop the leaves into your tank, give it a few days and then proceed in normal cory breeding fashion. E.g. large water changes and blood worms.

Hope that gives you some ideas?

You can find the leaves on ebay easily, they are normally used for Betta's.
