Does anyone know why the german blue rams (and any others) fan their eggs with their fins? I read that they would do this and mine spawned and I see them doing it. I'm just curious what it does. :D

:fish: They fan for 2 reasons
1 to keep the eggs clean of debris in the water :D
2 to make sure the eggs have a supply of oxygenated water :D

amber i got a question for u lol.... do you think german rams are fairly hardy?

all rams are difficult to acclimatize, but once settled, most are hardy

I have heard everything everyone (and all the sites) have said about german blues being difficult to acclimatize and being weaker and blah blah blah. I have had mine for like four or five days now. TWO days after being in the tank one pair spawned. The next day the next pair spawned.

I see them as quite the opposite of what everyone says about them. They seem quite hardy and easy to me!! I say if you like them and want them, find out where your lfs gets them from and if they aren't from asia then get some. :D I am absolutely LOVING mine!! Best 50 bucks I've spent in a long time!! I watch them for hours every day! They are just awesome!!!!!! I'm so glad I went with them and not the bolivians "because they are hardier" blah!!! :D

_____but also remember that everyone has different experiences. In mine, they are very hardy and adapted very well to being in my tank. :D
