 well, i bought a fake plant for my tank thinking it will both provide a place to hide :fish: but, hes acting kind of funny  hes rubbing against it and stuff, is this normal?

he could have velvet or another parasite. look closely to see if you see anythnig. on the other hand, he could be just playign with the new plant? the plant didnt come from another tank did it?

no, it came from a package and i looked at him and under his chin is kinda grayish, but alot of the bettas at my LFS hav that to

hmmm, velvet is a possibility, try taking a flashlight and shine it on him and see if you can see anything abnormal (kinda shiny goldish type of coat on him), if he does that'll tell you it has velvet. According to sites, it should look like a fine coat of powder on the betta.

oh, and if the plant is plastic, it might acutally end up scratching his fins. I would use either silk or live plants to prevent that :)
