Fahaka puffer breathing fast

Hey giys

Hope your all doing well, things are going great with Franklin my fahaka puffer, but noticed today started breathing faster than usual.
Water change was done as normal once a week and water parameters are good. I've also noticed when I have my airstone on, there bubbles take ages to pop. So I've turn it off for now, the filters do make bigger bubbles but pop quicker and only a handful viable at a time.

Can anyone help me with ideads of these two matters

I don't understand what you mean by the bubbles take a long time to pop.

Have you got black and white gravel, or is there white fungus on the gravel?

Take the driftwood out and hose the fungus off. Then do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate. If the fungus grows back on the wood, remove the wood and hose it off and do another water change. Continue doing this until the wood no longer produces the white fungus.

Post a short video of the fish breathing and swimming.

Yeah turn your air back on that pop doesn't really mean anything it's just air trapped in water also what are your water?

I use the 6 in 1 test stripe, only tests the above

For now I'd do a 50% water change every other day 3 times plus increase air in the tank. Oh and clean out your filter

I've only had the fahaka 2 weeks, eats bloodworm, snails, live fish, tryed muscles and clams but not to keen on them. Doesn't eat them. But loves snails. OK will get some of those instead

It could also be a parasite as well. All my puffers when I first got em had them. Do you see a faint black ring anywhere on your puffer?

I paid a fair price for it and was told it was wormed and everything before I collected. I'm at work until later so will check black ring. Attached more photos for you to look

The fish has a couple of small white spots on the dorsal fin, pectoral fin and face. This could be the start of whitespot.

The safest treatment for whitespot is to raise the water temperature to 30C (86F) and keep it there for 2 weeks. Then reduce the temperature to whatever it normally is.

Do a 75-90% water change and gravel clean the substrate before raising the temperature.

Increase aeration/ surface turbulence when raising the temperature to maximise the oxygen level in the water.

OK thank you, I'm due to do water change Wednesday. Do you recommend do it tonight and then after an hour turn temp to 30? Isn't 30 really high for fahaka? It's on 26 now. I have some ich treatment shall I put some of that in the water after water change?

I can't tell anything from that video. If you turn your phone on its side so it's horizontal instead of vertical, the video should fill the entire screen and make it easier to see the fish.

Do the big water change now and then raise the temperature to 30C.

If you use heat treatment (30C) for whitespot, you don't need to use any chemicals. So just water change, raise temperature and increase aeration.

Do not add whitespot treatment/ medication.
