At Petsmart I saw a huge oscar that kept ramming its eys into the side of the tank (not too hard, but it looked like it should have hurt). How sensitive/ durable are fishes' (still don't know how to spell the plural possessive form of fish) eyes?

If the fish (which is plural and singular) are doing it themselves, i am sure they know what hurts and what doesnt. Especially oscars are pretty strong and I think that they wouldnt be hurting themselves.

I have seen OSCAR do that, but doesnt seem to hurt them, I also seen giant gourami's do the same, the oscar was doing the just before feeding as the lid was lifted to add food in a really big tank, and the gourami was in a very small tank for it size in the shop, but was only doing it when I look at him and he/she looked back.

So apparently cichlids are ok, but what about other fish?

It was a 10-15 gallon tank, max. The fish was over 1/2 a foot, I think.

I'm aware that fish is both plural and singular, but is the possesive:
fish's, fishes', fishs', fishes's, etc.?

plural or singular possessive? think its just fish's

the grammar is the same what ever the words

IE talking about a geese's eye or a gaggle's pond?

"Wow I think that fish's eye looked pretty"

"I think the fish's food looked tasty"

Interesting that, in that last example you'd not know if I spoke of a fish or lots of fish.... maybe if I'd wrote "I think those fish's food looked tasty" is that right?

damn I'd better read that other thread.

dont take my word for it, my spelling is awful.
