one of my danio's eyes are gone

i thought it could have been pop eye as i searched the forum

but as i checked again i got a good look at him and there is a crater where his eye was!

he looks fine apart from the eye.

what should i do if anything or is this something which will get bigger?

It does depend what caused it to lose the eye in the first place

I had a guppy fry attacked by a dragon fly larvae which literally just took the eyeball and left a crater (sp?) I just added melafix to the water for a few days and she healed up great.

She competes just as well for food as her brothers and sisters so don't worry that the fish won't cope with one eye

If an infection caused it to happen then you might need stronger meds in there :dunno:

The eye will not grow back but you could try addind melafix like others have said.

What are your test results in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph, fish can survive with one eye, add some melafix as some one has mentioned.

Okay so I've had my goldfish for about 4 years now. I bought him for like $.15. He was a feeder fish. He's grown to be beautiful, big, and healthy. Well I noticed this white bacteria or fungus or something growing around the area where i feed him. i thought it was a mold or something forming from food that had stuck to that area. I cleaned it up, cleaned the water, and didn't think twice about it. Well last night I was sitting there admiring my fish when I noticed that he has no eyes! I freaked out! His lense is fine, not broken, not popping out, not sunken in, its normal. His eye socket you can see from looking at him but he now has no eye ball!! Well I went nuts and starting inspecting everything. When I took the cover off of my filter I noticed it was totally infested with a white mold or something. I'm not sure how it got there, what caused it, etc but I am pretty sure that has got to have something to do with his eyes. this has never happened before. I have him in all new water, everything is sterile again. He's swimming around and feeding like he always has. I did notice that he does not respond to me tracing my finger on the side of the tank like he used to and he was running into the plants in his tank. I removed them b/c i didn't want him to get hurt. My main concern is this had to have happened within the last 2-3 weeks. Is he going to be able to live much longer with no sight and do I need to provide him with any special care? I'm very upset about this, and I'm very concerned. It's killing me that my fish that I've grown very attached to is now blind but I don't want to lose him either and I'm afraid that whatever took his eye, might move on to another part of his body. Any help will be very much appreciated. I've attached a picture of what he looks like right now right now. (FYI those are just tiny little bubbles on the inside of the tank, in case you're wondering.)

I have a danio kyathit and a rummynose tetra that both have only one eye.
as suggested treat with melafix to prevent any infection and all will be well.
You may find the danio will become more assertive at feeding time, mine both are and they are great charactures in the tank.
