right i have a 100g tank and am looking to get an external i have a 305 running on my 55g and was wondering if i could run my 100g with a fluval 405 it has a flow rate of 343gph so would turn my tank over 3.5 times an hour but it will be housing my mbuna what do you recon????

I have the Eheim 2224 running on my 47.5 US gallon and cannot see that able to cope as effectively with a tank twice the size. I would say Eheim 2028.

I would say forget Fluval unless you want to live in fear of a leak and have to spend ages re-priming it after every bit of maintenance.

Go for a decent second hand eheim, you won't be dissappointed.

Hey mark, I have a tetra tec 700, its a quality bit of kit. Its very low maintenance and the primer does all the work for you. Also it is virtually silent, I have it right beside my bed with no housing around it and it doesn't make a peep.

Also I would go for the EX Tetra tec 1200, as the flow rate of a T.Tec700 might be a bit low for a 100g tank.

I bought my 700 from this crowed. Very reliable and seem very competitive in terms of prices.

I agree,

Go with the TetraTec, just as good as Eheim but much cheaper. My EX600 has been running no problems, quite and easy to maintain!

the pro 11 2028 is a good bit of kit.i would say that as i own one of these excellant filters.

I'ved been using a Pro 2224 on a 80g tank and not very impressed at all, have now changed it to a pro 2 2026, much better!

I would deffinately go for a 2028 Pro 2 on that size tank thought our of the Ehiems, I haven't had any experience with the Tetra Tecs ones though.
