I have decided I def need to go external. I am currently running 2 filters on my new tank but I hate seeing them in there! Especially as there are 2 of them!
I have seen this one http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-external-filter-1400-l-h-9w-uv-1214-0.html
I am just wondering if anyone can reccomend them. Obviously would love to go for the well know makes eg Eheim or Fluval but they are a little out of my price range. I have a 320litre tank and want at least double turnover on the rate of water. The above is for 600l tanks so would be perfect.
Obviously I have seen the voucher for the above website and ideally want to use that if the above is a decent filter to use!
Any advice is fantastic :)

I love these filters, I now have 2 and will be changing my useless tetratec filters for them, well worth the money

Thats great to hear! :) was just worried as they seem lots cheaper than others I have seen! To they have and tendancy to break or have any problems?

I'd recommend them too. I'm running two of them currently and have had no problems with them, apart form one that leaked until I realised that you do need to fit the sleeve for the UV light, even if you're not going to be using it! I know a couple of people on the internet who have had to get replacement parts and they've both said the customer service was excellent.

They're a fairly new company (everyone has to start somewhere!) but I can see them getting a very good reputation over the next few years if they carry on they way they are :)

They've convinced me too, ordered one yesterday to replace a Fluval 305. Seems too good to be true but clearly not..

I have had mine nearly 2 years, when I first asked about them on this site I was told to steer clear of them but thankfully didnt, they are well built. The only downfall is the instructions are very minimal and they could do with just a little more media, but for the price they are unbeatable.

Got a 1400 model and it is brilliant. Had it since christmas. Although the filter basket handles have all broke, I broke the first one when I was getting it out the box and have now broke all three, they just dont support any weight, otherwise brilliant.

Oh, I'd forgotten all about the weak handles  They don't support the weight of the trays, it's true; but is a very minor annoyance and considering the saving on the price of other externals, is a price worth paying, IMO.

Yes it is a small price for such a good filter at such a cheap price, although I do have difficulty getting the very bottom tray out without a handle.

Why has this been moved? Would be better in discusion I think.

Looking at the pictures on the link they do look very much like the tetrtec's except for colour.

They are just chinese copies made by sun-sun and then labelled APS and sold by them. But they are brilliant chinese copies, cant knock them! :good:

I think it's a great filter. I bought a whole load of extra media for mine (the media it comes with is not really enough in my opinion), only they missed a bit off my order - when I contacted them they apologised straight away and sent me the extra in the post. Also, when I was waiting for my filter and rang to ask them what was going on they were really helpful, certainly at the better end of customer service IME.

I have a 2000EF on my Rio 240. If I were you, weezawoo, I'd got for that one, or maybe even two of them. If I ever get another permenant tank, I'll be buying one of these filters to go on it :good:

Cant compare them to ny other kind of external as these are the only kind I've had, but Im impressed so far! :)

Do you think they are better than the Fluval fx5?

Dunno never had one, but I wouldnt have thought so because the fluval has that automatic prime pump and is an absolute monster, I think it also has a higher turnover rate. But if you really want a monster filter (investment) then have a look at the Fluval G-series.

That sounds good about their customer service! Not many places have a great service, especially when you have probems you need sorted! I desperatly need to get an exteral so I am going to try these ones out. I am really hoping I sell my tank soon so I can get this with the discount! Makes it even better!!!
