going to sack my juwel filter in favour of an external.

are the pipes on the external filters flexible.

can i remove the juwel filter box while the tank is stocked

can i used the juwel pads in the external for a while to seed it

Quick answers, for quick questions!

Pipes are flexible

should be able to rip the box out, might upset a fish or two, but they will get over it (just make sure you already have the external ready to clean up any mess)

You most certainly can use the pads to speed up the cycling of the new filter.

Hiya,

I can give you a few pointers. Firstly, the Juwel tanks at the size that both you and I have, are equiped with very small apetures for pipework coming in under the lighting flaps. My Fluval 304 makes mine stick right up, they are not that flexible. Get a filter with smaller bore pipework. The Eheim 2213 comes to mind, its cheap and more than man enough for the Vision 180. You might need to invest in some skinny over tank bends for just about any filter you might choose anyway.

Yes, once your new filter is 'seeded', you can remove the filter box from the tank. Be careful here, Juwel will get stroppy about the warranty if you take out the box. To remove it, arm yourself with a long flexible blade retractable craft knife, and slice the four/five blobs of bonder from the back of the filter unit. A little wiggle, and away you go.

Good luck! :good:

Hiya,

Got Eheim's on both my Juwel Vision 180's now - only thing I changed was the intake pipe and the spray bar with Installation Kits 1 & 2 as they're black/grey - rather than having lovely (not) green pipes showing up in the tanks (the kits are adjustable too - can make them shorter/longer). Got these from Charterhouse Aquatics online.
