Some advice if ya not to busy :D

I am looking at purchasing an Aqua-Pro 4 external canister filter, its flow rate is 1200 MAX l/h. I would be putting it in my L tank, now the burning question is.... will this be a bit over the top for my tank.

I do want to overkill it to be honest as I get loads of floating particles and want crystal clear water.

Cheers in advance.

Since you forgot to type in the number of gallons your tank holds we cant give a definate answer but i can give you some rough guidlines.

For planted tanks you dont really want the tank volume turned over more than 3 times a hour. For light and normally stocked tanks up to 5 times a hour is suggested and for heavily stocked tanks or those with large fish a turn over rate of 7 times a hour or above is good.

A 1200lph filter on a 167 L tank gives you a turn over of around 7 times a hour, this will be fine for a heavily stocked community style tank but would be way to much for a planted set up.

that it also the max flow rate without media etc, ur not likely to get anything near that amount
