Hey there...

I am new in this forum and need some help.I bought the Aqua One Regency 100 Fish Tank but don't know which external filter I need to get.There are so many out there and I am a bit confused to be honest.I never had such a huge tank before.

Please help:)
 
Helo there, If your talking about the brand then it's up to the buyer's choice but the important thing is to look at the lph.
That is litres per hour. From a google search, your tank is 220L. So getting a filter that can do around 2000lph and above is good :D I always go for x10 turnover but it also depends on the fish and plants you have :D enjoy shopping!
 
I thought it was 4x turnover? I don't think he'll want a filter rated for a 100-150 gallon tank for a 50 gallon tank. The marineland c 530 or something is rated for a 100-150 gallon tank and that's how much turnover your saying s tank needs, but then the 55 gallon tank rated one is 360 gallon turnover which is a 6ish x turnover. I thought 4x turnover was minimum and 20x was maximum (unless tank is like 1,000 gallons or something.
 
Well my mind doesn't really work well with gallons so I just read the turnover part. I usually go for 10 turnover, that is my personal preference. Unless it is a big no-no? Is it? If so I need to get smaller pumps! :fun:
 
I don't think so just depends on the fish I guess.
 
THEORETICAL turnover or ACTUAL turnover? 2 very different things.

Are you in the UK Amorezamore? If so then look into the TetraTEC EX1200. JBL Also seem to get a great review and they look really smart too.
 
10x might be a bit much for some, but then most aim for 5-10x. Minnnt hit the nail on the head. You also need to remember that most LPH figures are minus media, so the actual flow rate will be less, sometimes miserably less....

Also, alot of the LPH figures are plucked from the sky. I guess it is calculated on a computer that 'this size' impellor and a motor 'this powerful' could pump 'this amount' of water per hour. In reality alot of them are actually way below what is stated.
 
I would rather over filter than under filter, especially when the claimed LPH flow is unlikely to be the actual flow you get.
