Hi, I have an Aqua One CF500 canister (500lph) it has started running slower and slower over the last couple of months. I have cleaned it out really well a couple of times recently (cleaned sponge in tank water, shaken out media in tank water scrubbed inside of the pipes, removed and cleaned impellor and surrounding) but it still runs slow.

My question is could I increase the size of the siphon tube from 12mm to say 16mm to make it siphon better and help out the filter a bit? Or will this make no difference or make things worse?

It is really just that I can't afford to upgrade right now.

i have a CF1000 and i found out that shortening the length of the intake path improves water circulation..

Do you mean intake as in from the filter to the tank? Sorry dumb question just wasn't sure. That would make sense.

intake would be from the tank to the filter...
but shortening the path from the filter to the tank would also help...
i keep both path as short possible - quite stretch actually...
:good:

Thanks. I might try that cos both tubes do a loop at the moment. I like to be able to pull the whole thing out of the stand without undoing the hoses but if it is restricting the flow that might have to stop.

you are welcome.
i have the same issue before but shortening the paths worked (for me at least)...
goodluck!
