Hey guys, so i sold my fish tank and startong from scratch. I got a 5 ft by 1.5 ft by 2.5 ft high tank.

I have got myself a filter and the tubes with it are too small to reach top of tank from the base we made. My question is this: can i use the garden hose as tubing instead? Its £3.45 a metre for the tubing - the thick clear green one at petshop. I need 6 metres. I can get 10 metre garden pipe for less as its in garden! I would wash it in hot water if its a tried and tested with anyone?

Thanks.

I've heard that garden hoses can leach bad stuff into your aquarium. I'd take the safe route and get some conventional aquarium tubing. Depending on where you are try the local hardware store they should have some clear tubing with nylon thread inside of it, I know that its normally cheaper and aquarium safe.

Ooo thanks guys. I just wanted to be safe as well. I was thinking to use garden hose but wanted to check. I shall go diy shop and see if they have clear tubing. If not, then petshop it is. Or the link above!

Hey guys i got the all pond solution 1400 model with uv 9w. What size tubing do i need?

Thanks! I just confused as theres a fair few sizes so i guess I'm after 20/15 according to that. On to ebay next haha!

Hello,

I've used Eheim 16/22 hose with this one, no problems.

Hey i ordered the 13/18 hose. With a view to put ends in hot water and stretch it over.
