Hi , was wondering if anyone can help.
Very new to the hobby, wanting to purchase an external filter, have 95l tank , internal filter very noisy and don't think it's that great to be honest.
Have checked out Tetratec and aquaone 700 and 750.
I don't want to much of a current as keeping Lemon Tetras and some Corys just now ,hopefully adding a trio of Aggassiz's or Borreli's and maybe some Black Phantom Tetras. My local dealer mainly stocks Eheim. If I want it soon my price range dictates the 130 (£59) or the 300 (£79), I have £20 credit at the dealer also.
Has anyone had any experience with these filters and are they suitable for my size of tank?
Any replies greatfully received.......

OK, for canisters, your looking at Tetratec, Rena and Eheim for a reliable, well built, easy to use and quiet unit

Tetratec are my favourite ATM. They are easy to work, reliable and quiet. In a 95l a EX700 would be OK, but an EX1200 would be better

Rena are quiet and reliable when well maintained. Their main seals are hard to access for maintenance though, meaning many people neglect them, leading to leaks as a result of neglecting filter maintenance... If you go Rena, you'd want the XP2

Eheim are the Rolls Royce of filters. They are top quality well designed bits of kit, but that is reflected (more than is justified IMO) in the price tag however... For your first Eheim on that tank, you'd want the 2028

If Eheim is the Rolls Royce, Fluval is the K reg Ford Orion. On old, noisy, un-reliable and difficult to handle banger.... One to avoid IMO and IME  If you went Fluval, you'd want the 305.

AquaOne make good reliable externals, however, they are no longer making spare parts for their filters now, so if it fails, your going to have to completely replace it, rather than the £10 part that died after warranty is over... If you went AquaOne, you'd want the 700 or 1000, the latter being better

All the best
