Hi all,

I am researching the cost of a future tank setup up and Ive been a little unsure of the filter that i should go for, but so far i have rounded it off to a eheim 2028, thats capable of filtering a 137 gallon.

The tank would be less water after i have put the rocks , substrate in, and im not filling it to the top anyway, so it proby ends out being 20 gallons less anyway

my stocking at most will proly be 3 adult severums,with other smaller fishes but this is after a couple years, i would have bought another filter etc, i just want to know if this would be a good starter filter, it will be stocked with juvie sevs until i get a pair.

So I was wondering what you guys would choose

Thanks

Saboy

have a look at the Filstar line of cannister filter. They will likely be somewhat less costly than the Eheim. I have an XP3 that does a great job, is quiet and quite easy to clean.
Cheers;

I would go with the Eheim.

See if you can pick up a second hand one on ebay. Eheims are good for two reasons:

1) They run and run for ages without problems

2) If the unexpected does happen, it is so easy to get parts for it that repairs are a doddle.

I really wish I had got Eheims earlier, instead of my two Fluvals.

Mind you, if you wanted to go really hardocre on the filtration, you could always throw in a sump with a wet dry trickle tower... ;)
