hi all. am lloking to get an external filter for my tank.... it holds 96 litres. how do external filters work? also can anyone recommend one i can but online im in the uk. cheers all :kana:

I would go for an Eheim classic 2213.....This will enable you to remove your internal filter and still have more filtration than your tank needs.HTH.

instead of the classic I'd go eheim ecco
as it is self priming (no need to go sucking on pipes to get it started)
ecco 2232 is rated for a 100ltr tank as cost around £48.99 new

the ecco 2234 is rated for a 200ltr tank and costs around £53.00 new

both are available on-line here

Have a look on ebay theres loads of exsternals, good prices as well.
The eheim ecco are prity good.

exsternals work by shyphoning water out of your tank into the canister forcing it through your filter mediun, then the pump accelerates the water to give it the extra boost it need to get it back to your tank.

The juwel filers are prity easy to removem all you need is a thin bladed sharp knife.
Theres 4 blobs of black silicon on the back of the filter, just gently push the knife in and cut through it, be carefull you dont get carryed away with the knife as you dont want to stick it through the silicon joint of the tank

I have quite a few Juwel tanks.......On most of them I use an external as well as the internal.....but on my Rio 400....I removed the internal in favour of two externals. More to do with.....more room for the fish than anything else.
