I had 9 Exodons but one has died

Do you think I can replace it or are the rest of the shoal likely to kill a new one?

adding one, especially a smaller one would most likely end up dead.
personally I think 8 is a good number for exodons.
I started with 13 and ended with 10 (which I added to CFCs shoal)

AFAIK they all did well and are still doing so

I lost the biggest one from my original stock within a few days of adding wolfs ones and since have had 2 more vanish from the group but that is pretty much par for the course with exodons, any weakness results in being eaten.

If you want to add more i'd recomend adding at least 3 at a time and prefferably more. Personally i believe the more the better with exodons, the smaller the number the more likely they are to be injured and then picked off.

Thanks for the advice - think I'll leave it at 8

How many do u have in your shoal?

I think i have 14 left now, its difficult to count as they never keep still and theres always one or two hiding somewhere. At some point i want to double the number of them when i move them to a larger tank, more is always better with aggressive schooling species like exodons.

I currently keep mine in a 40 gallon long, 48" long but only 12" high, when i move to the fish house they will get an upgrade to a 55 and more added.
