hi i have a silver shark and 2 common goldfish and 1 fancy goldfish and a lovely pleco. i wans wondering if the silver shark will die over christmas because i dont have a heater of light its my favourite fish along with the pleco!!! i cant really afford it at the moment i currently have 15 litre tank and i will be soon expanding to a bigger 29 litre one :p. i want to know if i have acknowledged that the tank is a bit cramped and i want to get rid of the goldfish as they are quite big but i dont have the heart to kill them :-( :-( :-( and i dont know how to get rid of them without killing them!!! please help me on vmong88@hotmail.com

I'm afraid the bad news about your silver shark is that it should grow to 30cms in length and as a schooling fish it needs 5 or 6 companions. As it also needs a lot of swimming space it really isn't suitable for anything but the very largest of tanks - 400-500 litres minimum.

Your common pleco can grow to 75 cms in length and needs an even larger tank.

Goldfish should have 20-40 litres of water each and heavy-duty filtration.

i also need help on workign out the litres of the tank i am planning to get. the dimensions are 18x12x12 and they are in inches.
