I was just looking around at the pet store the other day and bumped into a lady who used to breed bettas but switched to breeding guppies...she was telling me about a food she used instead of bbs...called cyclop eyes? I have never seen this non the less heard of it but she said the fry loved it...was just wondering if anyone has heard about it or maybe seen it or tried it? Let me know thanks :)

Well the only fish-related use of 'cyclop eyes' I can think of are the little metal beads you use to make flies for fly fishing, and I can hardly imagine fry enjoying those  Could it have been a nickname she was using for the feed?

I always keep cyclop-eeze in my freezer. The betta fry aren't too crazy about it, but they'll eat it after four weeks of age. My krib and molly fry LOVE it.

Here's a link...

They say one cyclop is 40X better than a freshly hatched baby brine.

Thanks for the info wuv :) maybe I will keep my eye out for some...and when I have my first spawn ill try it and keep you all updated on how that goes... thanks again :)

Well I can hardly blame you for not getting her to write it out properly :p It looks interesting, actually- I'm reading up on fry foods myself atm, so I'm glad you brought this up

No problem. I buy it in a long, thin, frozen brick and it lasts forever. Forever. In the past couple of years I've only gone through like two or three bricks, but I don't feed it daily, I just keep it as a back up or something different to throw at them.

Ask your LFS about it, they may order some. I know the company is MORE than willing to supply shops with it just to spread the word. They sent my lfs one dozen packages for free AND a complimentary package for the lady who asked the lfs about it.

Wow thats impressive....I will really have to look into that...Specially as a back up food...since this will be my first time spawning a pair...I am trying to prepare myself for everything I can think of! And so far my cultures flopping and bbs have been one of my fears! :)

Andie- Haha well I am glad that I could help us both out then :D

I'm guessing this product is made from cyclops? We studied those in zoology class :look:
