As above i'm looking to do a fresh water mangove style tank, and was wondering if any of you reefers had establised mangroves you would be willing to sell.

I'm not sure how well they will convert to FW but I'm willing to give it a try.

Thanks

Why not make a brackish mangrove tank? Makes a lot more sense... besides, transplanting a mangrove from salt to fresh takes a great deal of time. They will not tolerate a quick move, and will wilt and die.

Lynden I already have a full tropical stock so can't/dont want to go brackish.

Okay... but be prepared to get mangroves that live in fresh water... Rhizophora mangle (the species most commonly utilized for saltwater and brackish aquaria) does not inhabit freshwater in the wild. In other words, good luck.

From what I've read about mangroves, the species commonly available can range from totally fresh to totally marine, but once sprouted, they cannot change salinity.

You will kill a marine-sprouted mangrove if you put it in a FW tank basically.
