Forgot to turn the ro unit off the other night it was running for 8hrs overnight into a 25ltr jerry can, you can imagine how impressed the wife was along with the dogs who had to paddle in the kitchen. Safe to say ordered 10meters if tubing and auto shut off valve/float switch for my 100litrr water butt.

Mine Is a 75gpd unit, does 25ltr in 4 hrs during the winter months, yet to see how it goes in warmer summer months. Got boosted mains fr entire house which helps.

Ordered a boost guage todayto see what the unit actually gets. And an online tds been using a pentype until now.

I had the same problem with my ro unit ben and i bought a pump which helped alot.

Lol I have lost count of the amount of times we have flooded the kitchen because we forgot to turn the RO off. worst time was when we went to bed (the RO bottle was almost full before we went as well). Luckily that night I didnt sleep very well and came down a few hours later to find about 1/4 inch of water over the kitchen floor :)

Really should invest in an auto shutoff kit.

I prempted any risk of flood by drilling holes through the utility room wall, for the waste and RO pipes. Both run outside. RO waste goes in the water butt which houses the goldfish that eat any mosquito larvae, and serves to water plants and wash the patio off where the dogs urinate. I'm thinking of investing in a pump for the RO machine because it does seem to take ages to fill up sometimes.

My waste goes straight into the waste drain i am of the thinking that i have really no other use for it and i have already paid anglian water to take it away ( they charge a waste water charge of 90% of your incoming water volume)that may change but for now its easier.

RO water will go into a 100Ltr slimline water butt in the corner of the dining room behind the door so hidden out of site, i may use my second 100Ltr butt to mix saltwater but not sure yet.

Can you not hook it up to the garden hose pipe tap instead? That'd solve any flooding problems. You could get some 25L jerry cans, and have the ro water branch off with a tee pieces, so that you don't have to worry about changing the cans over when they fill. IE you could fill 2 or 3 cans simultaneously.

Dont have a garden hose tap, it runs off a spare utility pipe. When my auto shut off stuff comes this week then there wont be any problems as it will be going in the nice big 100L water butt :good:
