Alright, now it's finally my turn for my stupid newbie questions. :p

I recently purchased a ten gallon tank at a garage sale. A friend of mine just gave me a Whisper Advance Power Filter for 10-20 gallon tanks. He had originally bought it to set up a tank, but a few of his plans have changed and he'll be moving into a hole in the wall dorm room soon, so he decided against setting up one for now. Anyway, it's never even been opened. (lol, Lucked out once again...it's weird how these things come to you so easily when you actually start asking around). Is this a decent filter?

I'm going to start looking around at the stores for a heater and a hood (and a tank stand) pretty soon. Is there anything I should keep in mind when I'm looking?

I'm obviously new to this, so thank you very much for any advice at all. :)

the filter will work

for a heater the best are ones where they are sumberual not clip on they are 5-7 dallors more but ar worth the money

Remember to change heaters minmally yearly. I know a friend that lost his discus becuase his heater broke. ;)
