hello ive decided to go for it iam going to convert a spare 2foot tank i have into a marine tank. i currently have the glass tank with a built in lightbulb fiting and a heater. ive got a list of sum stuff i need on anothe thread including a rough price of each item. these include.

live rock £50
water £18
light blb £15
coral sand £12
blue paint for back £16

ive heard of other equipment would sum one tell me if i need these other things and a rough price of what i would get them for please.

refractometer
power heads
protein skimmer
salt water test

have i left any thing out or have i put in equipment that i dont need.

due to lack of money iam planing to build this tank up over the next lot of months and plan to buy each item bit by bit i was wondering what order should i buy these in what needs to come first. iam thinking of buying the coral sand and the light bulb first.

thanks for reading looking forward to any replies

Sea salt, mixing bucket, powerhead to mix it, RO/DI filter, gravel filter, thermometer, mag float or other glass scraper.

To name a few.

i just got an email from my local fish shop i emaild them asking for prices of a few things

are these resonable prices

Coral Sand ... £4.95
Live Rock ... £10 per Kg (You need 1Kg per 10Ltr)
Salt Water ... £4.00 per 25Ltr
Refractormeter ... £39.95 (Hydrometer will do same job for £14)
Korelia Nano ... £29.95
Protein Skimmer (V2 Nano) ... £49.95
Test Kits .... approx. £20
18" Marine White Tube ... £15.95

also as iam going to buy 1 thing every 3 or 4 weeks would sum one recommend a list of these things what order should i buy them in. i have pateince and dont mind waiting a while to buy fish so what should i buy first that would help the tank cycle

The prices seem about right but

Coral Sand ... £4.95 Seems good
Live Rock ... £10 per Kg (You need 1Kg per 10Ltr)best to look for second hand imo £5 a kilo
Salt Water ... £4.00 per 25Ltr very good price check which salt they use
Refractormeter ... £39.95 (Hydrometer will do same job for £14) hydrometers are not very accurate refractometer is best check for a second hand one
Korelia Nano ... £29.95 seems a bit high 18 on ebay
Protein Skimmer (V2 Nano) ... £49.95 second hand ones are commonly available
Test Kits .... approx. £20 very low at a guess 8 - 9 each need ph nitrite nitrate and ammonia to start
18" Marine White Tube ... £15.95 most prob cheaper I paid the same for a 36" tube

Order wise

Salt Water
Rock
Sand
Koralia nano
test kits
skimmer
tube

roughly

ive just seen marine 150 litre marine protein skimmers on ebay from hong kong would that be any good for a 2ft tank ther for £15

sorry what do u mean

ive also seen a AQUARMOONLIGHT bulb for nine pound on ebay are they good enough to help soft corals grow. this marine stuff is hard compared to tropical

The skimmer is it a Boyu WG-310 from Hong Kong ?

Not sure on the tube I guess its a T8 ?

the bulb is a t8 and the skimmer is the Boyu WG-310 cheers mate ur being a great help

sorry fo al the questions mate but if i buy the saltwater and the live rock with my heater would the tank be ok siting for a few months without any thing else bought for it. would a small pump in it keep the water clean and would i have to perform any water changes.

If you are talking a few months I would recomend getting a circulation pump else you will end up with Nitrate problems

u mean like a fluvel 2plus i have a spare one of them or do u mean just a powerhead sorry for the silly questions

You could use the fluval for flow as long as there are no sponges or media in there
