I don't usually post here in the chat area, but it struck me that the majority of the members of this forum are in the UK (I think), and that perhaps you might like to see a bit of entertaining Southern Americana. I am an alumn of a small university here called Furman University, and for the past two football seasons here (yes, THAT kind of football), the marching band has been putting on halftime shows that keep the fans in their seats rather than heading for the concessions. So here is a video from this past weekend of their Glee show:

And they started this trend with a great show in Sept 2009 when they marched to Thriller:

It's no longer just the band geeks and band parents clapping for the band...

lol, looks awesome :p I love the thriller one...

You yanks americans do love that stuff, although I admit the football atmosphere does look fun.

Well, I was a band geek at the same school (trumpet), so I have a soft spot for the bands...

It's mad how big those stadiums are, especially for a smaller university. I guess your smaller universitys are still pretty big compared to ours though..

Furman has about 2,200 students enrolled, I think. The stadium will seat about 16,000.

Hi Gvilleguy :)

Looks like more fun than the football game! Thanks for sharing.

You gotta love American football. Aside from anything else at least you all enjoy it.

There are a fewthings I don't understand though...

Firstly, the Brits invented football long before the Americans invented their version. The Brit one is played with the feet, the American one predominantly the hands. So why is the British one renamed soccer?

And how on earth has an American team won the world series EVERY year?

world series is in baseball. football has the super bowl. i find european football to be more fun than american football to be honest.

I deadlier that, just thought I'd add it in while I was on the America thing.

I just don't understand it...

But anyway, the game at college level has massive support and they take it seriously over there and actually support their athletes. I've not seen anything close to that over here which is a real shame.

Soccer is short for Assocciation Football, I think it was used in Britain at the same time a football. However I agree, I can't see why American Rugby is called american football/
