My tank is currently going through its cycle just wondered whether i had enough oxygen pumping around my tank, I have a Fluval 3+ and the air pump setting is on its lowest!Do you think i have enough O2 in tank ?

When doing a fishless cycle some people turn the temperature up a bit (85-90*) to speed up bacterial growth. If this is done then oxygen levels will drop.

The most important thing as far as oxygen levels are concerned is water surface aggitation. Have the filter outlet just below the surface so ripples form, this will ensure good oxygen transfer :good:

Yes they swim lethargically and try to keep to the flow of any water and gasp at the surface.

The gills also go pinkish and not blood red.

ah, so not doing a fish-less cycle then........have you tested water and what are the results?

I'm doing a fishless cycle

Unless you have fish in your tank i wouldn't worry too much about the O2 available at this stage.

If after you have added fish they have symptoms like helterskelter mentioned, then you need to do something.

Ah, was confused as you asked if there where signs in fish of low oxygen

Ok so would not be too concerned untill cycle is achieved :good:

I wouldn't worry about low oxygen; any half-decent filter will supply more than enough.
