Hi There,

I have recently aquired some Endlers guppies which are tiny little guppies that are very brightly coloured. I Keep them in a small tank that i use to breed snails for my puffer fish (figure 8 - in a different tank). I am however looking for some suitably small and peacefull companions for this tank. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have seen some dwarf corydoras but think they are a bit darkly coloured. I would like some brightly coloured crabs or something like that. who knows...does anyone have any suggestions?

Obviously they cant eat the snails though.

The tank is only about 30 litres (not sure how many gallons that is)

It's actually debatable as to whether Endlers actually are Guppies, or a seperate species...but anyway.

Your tank is about 7 gallons. Not much is going to get in there. And you may be stocked already...how many Endlers do you have?

Crabs aren't going to work well. Your Endlers will be gone before you know it. Maybe try a few Guppies? If you aren't stocked already. Or Platies?

there is no way the tank is overstocked. these fish are tiny. there are 8 of them.

Not interested in any guppies or platies or mollies for that matter. I want something as small and as stunning as the endlers.

Yes, they are tiny. However, they need pretty good water quality, as do most fish, so it's best not to push your luck too much. I'm guessing your's are full grown at close to an inch?

What kind of fish do you want? Schooling fish, bottom dwelling fish, single fish...? You could try a Dwarf Gourami. Or a Honey Gourami. Though they MIGHT pick on the Endlers so they may not work. It really depends on the Gourami's temperment. Or You could try a female Betta. It's hard to find colorful, small fish.... The most colorful fish are usually cichlids, and they grow way too large for your tank.

Not really sure, just something small and interesting. thats why i posted to see what people suggest, pictures would be nice to help me choose.

Just as a note on the water quality issue, i do partial water changes every week in all 3 of my tanks, i make SURE the water quality is in peak condition, i use test kits to check every few days.

i think dwarf gourami's and honey gouramis would grow to be too big, would make the other fish look out of proportion. Im not really a fan of neons by the way before someone suggests that.

Okay, sounds good.

How small are we talking, though? No more then an inch? Or small enough to fit in an 7 gallon? I still say a female Betta will be your best bet, since you don't want any other Livebearers.

yeah, i suppose, i already have a betta. You know it doesnt really have to be a fish, could be some sort of invertabrate, or an amphibian. i would prefer if it was something no bigger than the guppies, and i would have to be sure that no fin nipping was going to happen.

thanks,

I will keep the idea of a female betta in mind, but hopefully other people will have some suggestions.

take care

ye i agree with annastasia there isnt much more you can have :/
guppies would be great they fit everything you want except there livebearers -_-

Well, there is no way your endlers will survive if you put your male betta in there. And even the female bettas can be really aggressive. I think, if you aren't interested in neons, take a look at some of the other tetra species, like cardinals, lemons, etc. Or maybe you could look into getting a school of white cloud mountain minnows.

OR, if none of those suit your fancy, and you want something as nicely colored as the endlers, maybe look into getting a few more endlers, and have a species tank. Add some nice plants, some decorations, and some snails or frogs, and you'll have a pretty nice looking tank.

Tetras need schools, though. Once they have a big enough school, his tank is going to be pretty overstocked, and they also need room to swim. I can't see Tetras working. Or Minnows. As they also need a school, and get kind of big.

I agree, though. More Endlers are probably your best bet. Or just stick with the ones you have. :)

Do you have only male endlers? Or a mix of males and females? If there's a mix of both, being that they're livebearers... you're going to have a lot more than 8 soon enough. ;) Like rabbits, those darn lil buggers are... haha

I'm not sure what to suggest... my suggestion would have been a small gourami (honey or dwarf). Other than that, I'm kind of stumped. Good luck though.
