Im starting to experience tiny discs of encrusted material on my plexi glass. Im pretty sure its algae of some sort but Im having a totally difficult time removing the stuff.

I dont want to use that brillo material because we all know what will happen to the plexi so Im just wondering if any other posters have had the same problem and what youve done to rid yourself of it.

Im leaving town for about 3 weeks and someone will be here to watch it I suppose but Im pretty sure that stuff will be allowed to do whatever it wants while Im away. Im just trying to control it at this point.

Any suggestions/advice?

TIA

Aloha

Sounds like Coraline algae. 2 options for someone from hawaii :). A Mag Float cleaner, or a Kent Marine algae scraper with plastic tip (made for acrylic tanks). Either one will also call for a little elbow grease ;)

thanks for the chime, bra...

be careful with the magfloat cleaner because perspex is easy to scratch.

One other option I didn't think of, you could get some plastic kitchen scrubbing pads and use those... Way more elbow grease inovlved there though ;)
