I got some apple snail from a nice lady here, they seems doing fine. But yesterday, i found there are a empty shell of the smallest snail. wot happened? did he die? but there shell is totally empty, nothing left. i do not have any fish eat them

Hi

if snails die then the others will clean up if you know what i mean.

sometimes they just die with no apparent reason

as long as the others are ok and the water is good then i wouldnt worry to much.

sharon :good:

try see if the shell has any dents if it has then there was a fight

so u mean the big might eat the small one? i do notice sometimes, if i do not feed them, the big ones are always stick together with the small ones, not sure they are fighting or playing.

BTW, i notice, everytime i feed them cumcumber, my tank water will turn a little white 1 or 2 days later, very obvious, is it normal?

Many thanks

apple snails wont eat each other alive but they will clean up if one dies.

i have no cloudyness with my tank and i put alsorts in, im not sure why that happens , maybe you put too much in or you leave it in too long ? (just a guess)

i normally put 2 slice, for 1 or 2 days, after one nite, the water will become a littly cloudy, then more and more, until i took it out, and maybe 2 or 3 days, the bacteria will work on it and make it crystal clear again.

i had lots of diffent snails and i realised that they thend to get eaten after theres a new family member in the tank
