My female emperor tetra has had pop eye (in one eye) for more than two weeks. Started off doing several small water changes in addition to usual fortnightly water change (around 20 per cent) I normally do. Have also tried two doses of an anti-bacterial. Now I'm stumped. I am still doing extra water changes. I bought a new nitrate test kit in case I was getting incorrect readings but nitrate levels are the same as usual (around 10-15, the same as our tap water). Should I carry on with meds? I have had the fish for about two years, she is eating and swimming normally and none of my other fish have been affected. Any suggestions?

What other fish do you have in the tank, what to see if you can add some salt.
Do you have myxazin by waterlife.

Yes but the interpet med done nothing.
Plus popeye closely related to dropsy because of the build up of fluids.

The wording is 'an antibacterial' Interpet No 9 isnt even mentioned ;) .... pop eye is an internal bacteria problem, not an external one, thats why I disagree about using Myxazin.
Dropsy is a symptom....

Could you also provide a link showing that dropsy and pop eye are related?

The first link is to one persons opinion, its not a scientific fact so is worthless as proof.

The second is from a company selling a med.. its says
MYXAZIN will also help to control Pop - Eye Disease
it doesnt say it will cure it.

Its a bit like saying prazi is safe for fish, but I also am still waiting for some one to prove that to me ;)

Looks some sites up and they say myxazin for popeye, never had popeye with my fish so couldn't really say which med is better over the other.

Well when you have had a fish with all the diseases and syptoms you have had posted about, maybe you can post about your experience with them rather than spamming emergencies and offering solutions and links from reading threads and sites where you dont really know if they are fact or fiction or just the writers opinion???

if you want to quote some one, make sure you know the info you are giving out is correct..

I don't spam emergencies thank you.
There no need to be rude.

Saying someone spams emergencies is being rude to me.
Anyway the post if for helping the poster not a war. :hyper:

That popeye link is one of the best links and it written by the well known dr barb.
