I had a Penguin 350 running on my 20 gallon. I had to empty the tank to install the background for it. during this transition my penguin fell off of my balcony and broke the casing. My brother happened to have a new Emperor 400 for his 55 gallon he broke before he could use it. So I setup the 400 in the tank yesterday and its really loud. Full flow is louder than slow but not by much. I was wondering if anyone knows why or has a way to fix this. I remember reading something about the Renas needing a larger hole for the spray bar and thought maybe this was similar since the emperor utilizes spray bar driven wheels. on that note though, i have an xp2 on my 55 that doesnt make a peep.

I've used quite a few Emp. 400's and the only time I've ever had them be loud was after I hit the intake tube while cleaning. I simply pulled it back out towards the front of the tank (about a half inch was all) and it quieted down again.

Not sure if your solution is as easy but hth.

it may be, i noticed if i turn the flow all the way down and lift the back part of the cover off and pull the flow lever forward it will quite down, but it eventually starts knocking again.
