EMERGENCY

OK heres the scoop my dad though he was doing a nice thing which he was but he bought me 2 BALA sharks ($25). Right now there about 3" but they get huge... anyways I really don't want to hurt my dad['s feeling but I don't wanna kill all my fish by haveing way to many in there.... So what I think i'm gonna do is just call the pet store tomorrow because they are closed right now and see if they can take them back. Anybody else know what they would do in my situation?

You're right - you have plenty of activity/fish in your tanks. The sharks, though beautiful are just too much. Dad will understand, just tell him why and that you are thankful for his generous gift.

Okay this is hardly an emergency. so I'm not going to answer you. You can't sneek the fish out so you need to tell your father and you have at least a week before you see any ill effects.

my personal opinion if you don't wanna upset your dad, would be to move some of your fish in your 55 to your 10 gallon. You could fit a few more in there.

Everyone is probably going to yell at me for saying that though. I just love my balas they are my favorite fish.

I might have to agree with Nina, you should move your swordtails on the 10 gallon and put the sharks on the 55, If your not planning to upgrade the tank you could always trade the balas when they get big...Just my 2 cents

I have had 2 balas in my 55 for 3 years now. I did not know how big they would get when my son picked them out. Plus you should have at least 3 because they are schooling fish. I am trying to find a good home for them because now they do not have enough room and are very easily spooked which upsets the whole tank. I even have my lfs seeing if there is anyone who might want them.

I suggest taking them back while you still can. Thank your Dad for his thoughtfulness but explain. He should understand and respect the idea that you researched and knew that they will just get too big for your tank. If not maybe he will get you a bigger tank just so you can keep them.

Thanks a lot... The LFS took them back and gave me store credit so I bought some algee wafers and declorinator because I was running low. I told my dad about how big they get and I don't have the room in my tank. He totally understood.
