I have a chiton in my tank which is about 3ins long.

It has spent the last 5mins spewing out white stuff that looks like smoke!!!!!!!

Does anyone know what this is???

I can't change my water till tomorrow so if it's anything nasty I need to know now so I can get everything out and into my QT tank

I asked on RC and they classified it as a "Reproductive Event" I was right after all. There comments were to up the skimmer a bit or to add activated carbon

It is highly likkely to be a reproductive event but its difficult to distinguish which is which. The event and outcome is still the same. No need for overall concern. Whilst increasing skimmer activity might help, Im assuming the skimmer is being run 24/7 in which case is fine. As for carbon, you can use this if you are really worried but its not going to be life threatening to the tank.

Yes the skimmer is on 24/7 and I put a spare filter in the tank overnight. This morning I did a 20% water change (I'd have to move some corals to change more than this). Everybody looks happy, the big chiton is behaving and the smaller ones are also looking fine, so hopefully the panic is over.

yeah the waste I was getting out of it was almost black Am soooooooo glad we got a bigger skimmer than what we needed. can never over skim a tank IMO
