My ellioti laid eggs about a week ago, I discovered them after a water change. But the next day they were all gone. I'm not sure which of my 3 elliotis are male or female. They all look to be females from what I have read they are all similar size and colour one seems to be slightly more dominant than the other 2 I belive it is the one in the pic.

Easy to sex Ellioti's. The males are much bigger and the females will have the dark blotch in the dorsal fin.

The eggs would of been eatan with other fish in the tank. Ellioti in my experince are very good parents

Ahh thanks for this @AquaBarb

I was told by my LFS it was impossible to sex them lol

How’s big are they ? They still look fairly juvenile and might be a first clutch from a new pair , the first few clutch’s of eggs are very rarely successful for many reasons weather it’s a fertile issue or just learning to be parents , I’d watch for a while and it should be apparent which two are breeding weather you know which is male or female it Dosnt really matter then remove the third wheel , leaving them to be comfortable giving you a better chance of the eggs being protected and not eaten

They all seem to have a dark blotch on the dorsal fin. They seemed to be protecting the eggs really well till the light went off then I noticed a bit of straying away then come home from work my partner said she thought the eggs turned white then all were gone by the time I got home from work

Sounds like you have 3 females then so they will lay but without a male the eggs will not hatch into baby fish as they wont be fertilized

Yep white eggs sounds like unfertilised eggs
And with not being able to see pairing Behavior would indicate 3 females
In fairness iv never had females lay eggs without there being a male presence, curious behaviour in my opinion

I went and purchased a male
