Hello,

Hopefully someone can help.

We have recently bought a 14L Elite starter fish tank for my son and we are running it through the fishless cycle. As part of the pack we have an Elite Mini Filter. This has now been fitted into the tank and is running but it seems to be quite aggresive with the water. There is a flow control on the side with a "+" and "-" and the control is currently set to "+". Should I leave the setting on "+" when the fish are introduced or turn it down to "-" to stop the fish being carried away in the current?!?!?!?!? (we are planning to get two goldfish).

Any advice would be appreciated.

I encourage you to reconsider the goldfish, as they grow MUCH to large for that tank, and are high waste producers. How about a betta and an ADF, or perhaps a betta and a snail? As far as the filter goes, I'd set it on a medium setting after adding the fish, and see how they do, then make adjustments based on how the fish react.

i fully agree. i cant think of any other inhabitants, that the tank is big enough for. even firebelly newts may be too much for it..

i know this may fly in the face of what the shop may have told you, sadly their job is to take money, not make sure the fish kept in the tank have enough room to be healthy.

i would suggest a betta, they are wonderful looking fish, need little space and fit the bill quite nicely. or two adf's, may be ok, but my personal opinion is they should have 2 gallons each.

14Litres isnt big enough for 1 goldfish let alone 2. Go for something considerably smaller

Attach a piee of airline to the filter and bubbles shall come, lookign alot nicer and bringing in air to the tank :D
