Elephantnose

I was just having a little surf around, and ended up looking at this fish for a while...

The elephant nose.

and it reminded me of a game i used to play when i was a kid.. You know, the one where you folded a piece of paper a number of times, and one person drew the head, one the body, one the legs, and one the feet.. or something like that.

Well this poor old elephant fish looks like somebody did the same when they made him..

Does anyone have one of these.. would be quite fun to have in your tank..

We had one in our first tank we set up in this house, he was a good 4-5" and really shy but interesting. 3 Days later there was no sign of him....even to this day its a mystery.

The tank was secure, there was no body in or around the tank and nothing else in the tank would have taken it on, they where only guppies mollies cories a couple of small angels and a few big neons.

I would get another one though when I make room.

They are really lovely fish indeed and I've had a couple over the years - but not the right setup to provide a home for one (or a group) at the moment unfortunately.

i dont have one personally but they are ace fish, they have a very sensitive nose full of nerves and looks for live food in plant litter ..apparently
