I am thinking of getting a 65 gallon to be largely dedicated to an Elephant Nose but I wondered if I did want to add more fish in there for/with him, what would be good ones? What make good mates for an Elephant Nose? My LFS keeps theirs in a tank with baby whales and some kinds of arowannas... Any other ideas?

Elephant noses are fairly delicate and won't be able to handle more aggressive fish or fish that may compete with them for food. African butterfly fish like to stay at the top of the aquarium, that's where they eat too, so feeding the elephant nose wouldn't be a problem  African butterflies get to about 4" and are only aggressive when a fish is constantly invading their corner of the tank :)

I have a baby elephant nose fish and he is fine and chilled just dont keep him with any 'angry' fish, though my ruby tailed shark was not impressed when he moved in as the 'daddy' of the tank! B)

I have mine with a couple of clown loaches,2 silver dollars a betta and 2 frogs, never had any trouble with them.

Mine's about 6 inches.

He loves his bloodworm :)
