electronic thermometer

does anybody know if digital aquarium thermometers are safe and any good cheers

I use 3 different thermometers in my tanks: a ($20) Lifeguard Little Time digital, a ($10) Coralife digital and a ($2) Plen-Plax alcohol thermometer. All of these read within .5°F of my old Kodak mercury thermometer that I consider to be a standard.
As far as safe ... what do you mean?
