They breed easily in good water so just keep it stable and make sure you have the right parameters they are very hardy so it's not two important as long as there is a male and a female, although a group of 1 male and three female would be easaier although it is almost impossible to tell sex without venting which involves pulling the fish out of the water flipping it upside down in your hands and looking at the holes on it's underside
