My boss said that he could order any fish including electric catfish. How big do they get? I know they are from Lake Tanganika but not much else about them. I have heard that they are kind of boring to watch but a lot of people say that about a lot of fish.

They must be not kept in a tank with other fish, unless you wnat them as food. They look like a transparent spotted channel catfish (with an extra shock to it :D :p )

I was considering getting one, but I heard they sit around a lot, and when I kept that in mind when I saw the picture of it... I just thought that it would look too much like a turd hovering in my tank, and decided against it.

E cats are to slow to eat anything but food from the bottom. Sorry, but it looks nothing like a channel cat. More like a big sausage with a mouth and fins. The fish is nocturnal and given a proper hiding spot, you would be lucky to just see it eat. It will on very rare occasion go to swim around which is a real treat. Ive had no deaths from the e cat in reference to other other fish. He has shocked a few resulting in a low grade temporary seisure to the fish which for me usually recovered. Ive got a rather large collection of catfish and imo, most catfish are to lazy to chase anything(with the exception of channel cats, rtc's and tsn's)for food if they can find it laying around on the substrate of an aquarium.
