Is it ok to put an electric blue acara in a small pond full of plants I live in Australia

Brisbane should be fine but maybe put some bubblewrap on the top of the pond during winter. The bubblewrap floats on the surface and helps warm the water up. Have 90% of the pond covered in it.

Blue acaras should be fine in temperatures between 18-32C as long as the temp drops slowly over weeks or months.

I was more concerned about summer temps. If I'm not mistaken Brisbane can easily reach 100F. :dunno:

Everywhere in Australia can reach 100F in summer :)

They will be fine in summer unless it's a shallow pond in full sun during the middle of the day. If that's the case, put some shade cloth over the pond and add an airstone.

The temperature here in Brisbane gets down to 6 c

How often does it get down to 6C and how long is it on 6C for?
If it only happens a few times each winter, and the pond has a bit of water in (500+ litres), it should be ok. If you can get some winter sun on the pond, that will help it warm up. Alternatively, make a solar heater for the pond.

Solar Pond Heater.
Make a black box out of wood or metal and put a black metal or clear glass lid on the box. Have the box in full sun. Put 50-100 meters of black poly pipe (irrigation tube) in the box and run it to the pond. Have a small water pump on a timer so it comes on a couple of hours after the sun comes up. Let it run until the sun goes down then turn the pump off. The pump will push water through the poly pipe. The water in the pipe in the black box heats up and runs back into the pond. The more time the water spends in the black box, the hotter it gets so you use a slow flow rate and lots of piping in the box.

Measure the water temperature before it goes back into the pond to make sure it isn't too hot and monitor the pond water temperature.

If you can insulate the black box and the poly pipe going to and from the pond, that will help keep things warmer.

I just want to get it out of the tank because I don’t want it eating bristlenose fry it’s full of plants and hiding spots I think it should stay in those temperatures
