EI

Weather here is great but thats not much help, yes a good link although when you go looking for the ferts to check the price they dont seem to exist, they arent listed anyway, while i was there i had a quick look at pressurised co2, they arnt the cheapest, one set i had looked at earlier on Aquatics Online for £289.99 is listed at £399.99 for the same thing, quite a difference.

Its a pity they dont have a source for the trace element or plantex (think thats what its called) now that would save me and everybody else a fortune, but a good source for the macros when they sort it out.

EI is catching on.

Nice link!

This is much more easier to understand!

I'm currently researching EI before I use it on my tank. What Trace Elements are you guys using?

This is what i predict I will need to dose:

Day 1: Water Change, Clean Glass, Trim plants, 1.5 tsp KNO3, 0.5 tsp KH2PO4
Day 2: 25ml Trace Elements
Day 3: 1.5 tsp KNO3, 0.5 tsp KH2PO4
Day 4: 25ml Trace Elements
Day 5: 1.5 tsp KNO3, 0.5 tsp KH2PO4
Day 6: 25ml Trace Elements

Your comments would be greatly appreciated!

(My tank is 155g, 800w lights, CO2, 100% Flourite)

Cheers

Im useing EI but i make the mix into a solution i dont dose it dry, i just found it easier this way.......1ml = 1ppm etc.....so i dont know about teaspoon measurements unless i did some serious homework on your measurements.

Good trace elements that i know of include Kent Botanic Grow, Seachem Flourish, Waterlife Tropiflora, API leaf Zone, im sure there are others but the above are good ones.

Seems like a nice setup, 800w seems like a lot of light even over a 155 gallon id say you would want to keep your parameters pretty tight to avoid any problems.

I think your KNO3 dosing is fine, you may even have to raise it a bit with that lighting. I'm not sure about KH2PO4 though. I estimate you will be adding 2.85 mg/l KH2PO4 each time you dose. I would have thought 0.25 tsp would be more suitable. This would give you 1.43 mg/l per dose. A high light tank is estimated to use between 0.2-0.6 mg/l PO4 per day.

If you do start dosing via the EI, you will need to ensure CO2 stays around 30 mg/l for the lighting period. As for traces, they're all different, but any of the popular ones should be ok.

Good luck!

Edit:- Just noticed you are only dosing Macros 3 x a week, so I would up your KNO3 to 1.75 tsp and KH2PO4 to 0.33 tsp.
