So I cleaned my tank and also the filter material this afternoon. I even drained the hoses to give them a clean. Empty, I reconnected, refilled the tank and pushed down on the primer. Nothing happened.

I've taken the head off and pushed down on the primer - there's some air pressure but the impellor itself doesn't move - not sure it it's supposed to without water though?

Am a little baffled at this point and I need things working again.

Thanks,

James

Have you got an air lock in the pipes ?? It should start to fill up by gravity. not too sure why the impeller isnt spinning.. Are all the electric switches on ?

take the spray bar or whatever you have on the outlet off then give it a decent suck the water should travel up the inlet and fill the canister. When you see water in the outlet side you should be ok to turn it on and voila if not post back your situation and Il keep an eye out for it!

Easier said than done I'm afraid - it's hooked up to a U bend and straight on to a spray bar - none of which are disconnecting very easily.

Right now the cannister is full of new tank water having been manually filled, but even if I switch it on right now it can't seem to draw any water in or out. I'm pretty screwed.

I'm not sure what to do next!

you have trapped air
right empty the cannister of water
take the u bend off to expose the outlet hose
suck on the outlet hose this will bring the water up the inlet pipe and fill the cannister removing all the air with it!
it will take a small while to fill the cannister you should hear it going in
when the water starts rising up the outlet pipe reconnect the u bend+spraybar
turn on and all should be good!

I left things switched off overnight with no apparent ill effect. Managed to disconnect my ETH 300 and suck on the pipe - that freed the air and water flowed nicely from then onwards.

No idea what happened to my priming button - I'll need to test it again next time I think.

its well worth investing in a Eheim installation set. all you do to prime, is top up the pipes. bargain! :good:
