please help me before hubby blows a fuse

just got the eheim and its been running for around ten minutes but were getting a lot of air still coming in through the top of the in tube. the fittings are as tight as they will go but its not stopping the air coming in. is it because its new and the fittings will eventually tighten or do we have to take it all apart and start again? has anyone else had this problem with eheims?

ok then for anyone interested.
when it was all put together we found it was taking in air from the arm of the intake tube. Hubby couldnt work out where it was coming in and was getting frustrated as he had to keep letting the air out of the filter.
I got him to put the whole arm of the intake tube under the water and lift it slowly up to see where the bubbles started to come in. turned out he had pushed the uptake tube too far into the over arm.
