hi peeps,
Just a quick question, on the eheim heaters does the power light stay on all the time or is it ment to turn off when it reaches its desired temp.
Any heater with a pilot light needs to cycle on and off. The intent of the pilot light is to let you know when the heater is on. Any heater can only truly control temperature if it cycles on and off with water temperature so the light should also be cycling. If the light is on all the time, the heater is simply never shutting off. That is fine if you are heating an outdoor pond that is running much colder than you want, but it is not acceptable in an indoor tank that actually achieves its desired temperature.
Thankyou for all your replies.
I don't know if anyone has experienced this issue, but once i moved the spirit thermometer further away from the heater it started to turn off when the desired temperature was met. I can only assume that having the thermometer to close to the heater was causing some kind of conflict.
