Just bought a eheim classic 2213. I need help with setting it up.

1) Do I have to cut the green plastic tubing into two?
2) What are those 2 long greyish pieces? How do I hook them up?
3) There is a green piece, u-shaped, looks like half of a pipe, what do I do with it?
4) There is a translucent, short, green, U-shaped piece. It doesn't fit anywhere. What do I do with it?
5) How do I prime the hose/pump?

Please help!

Thanks in advance.

If anyone has a eheim classic at home, can you take some digital pics of your setup and post them?

HI, don't panick. Take a deep breath

1) Do I have to cut the green plastic tubing into two? yes
2) What are those 2 long greyish pieces? they are stop valves, used for turning the water of so you can remove the filter without water going everywhere. How do I hook them up? cut a small length of the tube (about 2") and attach each bit to the filter intake and outtake.
3) There is a green piece, u-shaped, looks like half of a pipe, what do I do with it? this is for the return pipe it stops the tube from kinking, you put it at the bend where the pipe enters the tank.
4) There is a translucent, short, green, U-shaped piece. It doesn't fit anywhere. What do I do with it? this attaches the return pipe to a spary bar (if you have one)
5) How do I prime the hose/pump? there are several ways but the best is just to suck on the return pipe untill the syphon starts. you will know due to the noise of water entering the cannister. (no noise when fully running)

I'll try and take some pics but don't hold your breath as my camera and pc refuse to talk to each other all the time.

thats the best I can get.

The short, green, U-shaped pipe doesn't fit with the spray bar. Am I missing something? Do I cut out a small piece of green tubing to connect the spray bar to the green U-shaped pipe (and then connect the return line to the green U-shaped pipe)?
Please help.

Thanks to all who have helped.

Two more questions from a beginner

1) Should I put the spray bar below the water, at water level, or above water level?

2) When I am changing water and performing general maintenance (not cleaning the cannister or changing the media), should I unplug the cannister? If yes, would I have to reprime everything afterwards?

Thanks.

Let me clarify the second question:

Do I unplug the cannister filter from the power source when I am doing a water change? If yes, do I have to reprime the pump?

Unless you are going for a heavily planted, CO2 injected tank, the spray bar position doesn't really matter. Above the water it is noisy, at the surface, less so but evaporation will cause it to be above the surface after a while. Below the surface still creates a lot of surface movement.

I turn mine off when doing a water change, but mostly out of habit. There is no real reason to do so. The electrics are insulated thus you cannot get a shock if that was your concern. The thing you should not do is let the water level drop below the filter inlet pipe - if you run the filter dry, the impellor chamber will overheat and distort. You don't need to do anything to get it going again, just switch it back on.
