Got it the other day, how often are you supposed to clean them out. and what are you supposed to do? does it say in the instructions cos i cant see it?

I usually wait until I see a noticable decrease in the output flow rate. Then clean the pads in syphoned off aquarium water, and restart.

I run the classic 2222 and have
only cleaned it out once in the last 8 months.

I suppose it is due for a clean now

I have a 2215 for about the last 6 months and have only cleaned the the first finer white filter pad, probably twice, i might have a look at the other pads now that you mention it, but they dont look anyway dirty even after 6 months.

Do yourself a favour and clean it out every month or two. I know they can handle not being cleaned, but waste in the filter is waste in the aquarium no matter how you look at it. Plus by regularly maintaining the filter and impeller assembly you'll get a longer life out of the filter.
