Can anyone help me I have just set up my first marine tank and part of the setup is the Eheim 2227 pump,I have purchased second hand, all is well I believe, except the breather makes a gurgling noise on the air stoke, I can only describe it as being like when the last part of the water goes down the plug hole. Any pointers would stop me going insane listening to it.
cheers :hyper:

Try having the air intake under the water... Why does it need air..? Is it not just for moving water

If it is gurgling because of water in the breather tube (the smaller of the three tubes), make sure that the breather tube is vertical and straight so that no water can accumulate in it and cause the gurgling. Keeping the top of the tube (the open end) away from the tank so that it can not pick up any water will help as well.

Hackmaster sure putting the breather pipe under the surface stops all noise, but stopped the dry-wet part of the pump functioning.
I Have straightened the breather as erik has suggested and so far so good. It appears a small amount of water was in one of the bends an was the cause of the noise.
Thank you both for the advice.
