currently setting up my 980 and i want to transfer the media from my current canister filter to the new tank. the tank is a aqua one 980 so it does have a wet dry filter system built into the hood, but i would rather have two filters going to i want to get a canister to help it out mainly for the heavy mechanical as according to other owners the wet dry in the hood isn't that good at mechanical filtration. so any ideas? also if anyone has either of these filters for sale hit me up yooo!

I'm not familiar with your specific tanks built in filter but if it is a true wet/dry filter, its safe to assume its handling the biological side of the filtration.
The 2227/2229 are great canisters for biological filtration. Because of the built in wet/dry chamber, it is more effective than most canisters for bio. However, if your current in tank wet/dry is already taking care of the biological filtration, it is an unnecessary function for your system. Also these canisters tend to be more expensive due to the wet/dry function and built in wave maker.

Both of the canisters you're looking at will provide a much similar mechanical filtration, so it really just comes down to how much you want to spend. Quite frankly, if you're just looking for added mechanical filtration, and are set on an Eheim brand canister, you're probably better off going with an older eheim classic. Best bang for your buck. Or there are always other cans that would fit your needs, like a filstar.

guys i need your advise once more, i'm not sure which filter to get the 2028 or the eheim pro 3 600? the 2028 has a slightly more powerful motor but the pro 3 beats the 2028 when it comes to media volume and canister volume. so which one?
