Just wanted some views on the Eheim 2213, I've never owned a Eheim before so this is my first. I could get a brand new one of these for just £35, is this a good deal? Also are they quiet? as this will be in my room. Any info on this filter would be excellent.

Greatly appreciated :good:

Great filter in my opinion, it isn't noisy, not silent but nothing compared to the racket my fluval 304 makes.

If you get it with taps then its a breeze to work with, if you don't then I'd highly recommend buying some. I run it on a 120l, it might not be quite big enough but the tank is way understocked and I haven't had an issue.

Personally If I had a tank of suitable size and could buy an ehiem for £35 to filer it then its a done deal.

Don't suppose where your getting them from has any of the larger models equally as cheap? ;)

Thanks for the reply, suppose i will buy it then. It is a neighbour who has had it for a few months now, she said it has just been laying around unopened, still boxed with all wrapping on, and ready to go, :D

The 2213 is one of the smallest in the Classic line of Eheim filters. It's an old design, that is hard to beat and will run for many years, 20+ is not unusual. As mentioned, get the double taps. When properly set up initial priming shouldn't get any water in your mouth at all, I've never had this occur with years of using various cannister filters, Eheims or whichever.

Yeah, if you do things properly. You shouldn't get any water in your mouth and if you open and close the taps properly you should never need to prime it again.

The correct way to start it is to suck the outlet tube once everything else is fitted and the filter is still completely dry. One suck and the filter will start filling, and no water in your mouth.

When doing maintenance always leave water in the tubes before the taps. When you reconnect the taps back up and open the outlet taps first suction will take over and fill the canister for you.

To be honest if you were drinking that much water it sound like you weren't making a very correct attempt to get it started.
